Spending HeroPoints is fairly simple. There are two things to spend HeroPoints on Bumps, and focusing on a Virtue or Relationship.
Bumps
- when you're attempting to do something and a roll is made, you may spend one H to "bump up" your success level by one. A fumble becomes a failure, a failure a success, a success a crit. A crit cannot be increased in this way. You may spend the H even after the dice are rolled.
Focusing on a Virtue or Relationship
by spending a HeroPoint, you may increase focus on a Virtue or Relationship for a single game session.
A virtue that has been so focused on grants a BigAugment to relevant Contests. Several HeroPoints being spent on a virtue will cause it to increase.
A relationship is focused on when it comes into play. A HeroPoint may be spent to invoke a relationship's influence, and to focus in on the interactions between that character and the hero.
Hero Improvements
Improving your Hero is not done with HeroPoints: hero points are spent on being heroic. In order to advance your hero, you must spend AdvancementPoints, or AP.
See HeroImprovement for details.
